Unlike most other cider producers, family run business, Darley Abbey Cider, produce their cider from donated apples from gardens, allotments, and orchards across Derbyshire. As the demand for products became greater, Simon wanted to remove the manual work of apple pressing and become “more labour efficient”.
Darley Abbey Cider's aim was to streamline their operation and become more automated – “Achieving greater juice yield in the pressing and milling processes than our existing equipment could achieve”. In 2019, Core supplied and installed a fully automated processing line.
The apple processing line consisted of a KWEM 3000 washer elevator mill offering a high-capacity throughput of up to 1000kg per hour, and a KEB400 ECO Belt Press with a throughput of up to 2400kg per hour.
Core Equipment continues to service Darley Abbey Cider’s equipment each year prior to harvest.
